Bill Belichick Teaming Up With 'Pat McAfee Show' for 2024 NFL Draft
The ex-Patriots coach lands his first analyst job.
Former New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick will be co-hosting a live event with the “Pat McAfee Show” at the 2024 NFL Draft in Detroit, ESPN’s Pat McAfee announced on his eponymous show on Wednesday.
The live event, dubbed “The Pat McAfee Show Draft Spectacular,” will start at 7:30 p.m. ET on April 25 and can be streamed on YouTube, TikTok and ESPN+. The special offers fans a non-traditional broadcast option to watch the upcoming draft, utilizing “a wide range of personalities and analysts to break down picks while also emphasizing the Draft experience from a fan perspective.”
McAfee invited Belichick on his show on Wednesday to deliver the news.
“Coach, I just announced to the world something that we’ve been chatting about for like the last month and half or so,” McAfee told Belichick. “So incredibly pumped and thankful that you’ll be joining us next Thursday night in Detroit for the countdown and for the draft.”
The 72-year-old Belichick was passed up for NFL head coaching jobs this past hiring cycle after parting ways with the Patriots at the end of the 2023 season. Amid speculation over his future, the eight-time Super Bowl champion is reportedly expected to sign a deal as an analyst with Peyton Manning’s Omaha Productions, known for producing ESPN’s “Monday Night Football” program, “ManningCast.”
“I’m looking forward to it,” Belichick said of the Draft Spectacular. “Draft day, draft weekend, it’s always an exciting time for everybody, for the teams, for the fans, for everybody involved in it. It’s a great event, and I’m looking forward to seeing it from the outside. It’ll be fun to be in Detroit, to be with you guys, and get your expertise.”
