Impact Crew chief James Small has also been suspended for four races because of the infraction. NASCAR has been strict in the past on cracking down on modifications to the single source parts, which is what the spoiler base is. Joe Gibbs Racing announced that they will appeal the penalty. Briscoe was one of two cars chosen at random to return to the R&D center to be torn down along with Austin Cindric's No. 2 car, which no issues were found. If things stand, this is certainly a massive penalty for the No. 19 team and will make it difficult for them to make the playoffs on points.
