Guardians Fans Experience Epic Scenes of Solar Eclipse Ahead of Home Opener

A couple hours before the Cleveland Guardians hosted their home opener aganist the Chicago White Sox on Monday, the total solar eclipse hit its totality point in Cleveland, creating some amazing scenes at Progressive Field.

Cleveland was one of the cities that experienced a total eclipse, while many other American cities only had a partial eclipse. So, when around 3:13 p.m. ET hit on Monday, the Cleveland sky turned very dark.

The video screen showed a close-up view of the eclipse, but many fans wore the special eclipse glasses to get a firsthand look. Many of the players wore the glasses, too.

This was definitely a once in a lifetime experience for people everywhere to see the eclipse, but especially at a baseball game. Take look below at the video captured by Chicago Sun Times' Daryl Van Schouwen.

The Guardians were prepared for this historical moment, though, as the home opener was moved an hour back to a 5:10 p.m. ET start time back in February.
