Jon Gruden Hired by Italian Pro Football Team
Three years after his resignation from the Las Vegas Raiders, coach Jon Gruden in back in football.
Gruden has been retained as an advisor by the Milano Seamen of the European League of Football, the team announced Monday.
“We’re excited to announce that American football legend, Jon Gruden, will work with us as (an) advisor,” the Seamen wrote on social media. “Gruden will help us to improve our organization in every aspect. He already started to work with our coaching staff.”
Gruden has not held a formal job in football since stepping down as the Raiders’ head coach in October 2021 amid scandal. He was shown in uncovered emails to have repeatedly used racist and homophobic language.
On the field, Gruden compiled a 117–112 record in 15 years in the NFL. As noted by Milano, he won Super Bowl XXXVII with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to cap the 2002 season.
The European League of Football—established in November 2020—is a 17-team circuit with teams in nine nations across continental Europe.
