NC State’s DJ Burns Had Definitive One-Word Answer About His Chances of Playing in NFL
NC State forward DJ Burns Jr. has quickly become one of college basketball's biggest stars during the Wolfpack's Final Four run in this year's NCAA tournament.
Burns's performances on the court have been impressive, but he's also stood out because of his size—he stands at 6'9" and weighs 275 pounds. He isn't built like a stereotypical college basketball player, even one that plays down in the post.
This has led sports fans to wonder if Burns has ever had interest in playing football, potentially even in the NFL. Burns was asked about this speculation on Thursday ahead of Saturday's matchup against Purdue, and he was quick to give a simple one-word response.
"Zero," Burns said when asked about the chances of him playing in the NFL.
Various NFL scouts spoke with The 33rd Team's Ari Meirov about Burns's NFL prospects, and the consensus was that teams possibly would be interested in Burns at the end of the draft to make the 90-man roster just to see what talent Burns has on the football field.
Either way, Burns appears completely focused on his basketball career, and, more importantly, on taking NC State to a national title game.
