Oakland Athletics to Play in Sacramento From 2025-27 Ahead of Las Vegas Move

After months of speculation, the Oakland Athletics have a new home for at least the next three seasons.

The Athletics will play at Sutter Health Park in Sacramento from 2025-27, the team announced Thursday morning—making 2024 their final year in Oakland.

"I'm thrilled to welcome the A's to Sutter Health Park, where players and fans alike can enjoy a world-class baseball experience and create unforgettale moments," Sacramento Kings owner Vivek Ranadivé—who also owns the Triple-A Sacramento River Cats—said in a statement. The River Cats are the San Francisco Giants' Triple-A affiliate.

The A's, who are in the process of a highly controversial relocation to Las Vegas that has earned owner John Fisher widespread condemnation, had been seeking a venue to host them between the expiration of their Oakland Coliseum lease and the completion of their new ballpark in Nevada.

Sacramento, long a minor league baseball hub dating back to the 1880s, has never hosted a major league team.

The deal between Oakland and Sacramento provides for the team to play at least three years in California's capital, with an option to extend its stay through 2028.
