Tom Brady Jokingly Predicted Stefon Diggs Would Leave Bills Years Ago
The G.O.A.T. called it.
After the Buffalo Bills traded Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans on Wednesday, a video has resurfaced of Tom Brady warning Bills quarterback Josh Allen about such a move two years ago.
In June 2022, Brady and Aaron Rodgers squared off against Allen and Patrick Mahomes in an all-quarterback edition of The Match. During the 12-hole exhibition, a mic’d up Brady cracked a joke to Allen about a star player leaving Buffalo in the future.
“Davante left [Aaron], Tyreek left you, Patrick,” Brady said on the golf course. “Josh, don’t worry, someone’s going to leave you too.”
Allen and Diggs played together for four years in Buffalo which culminated in more individual acclaim than postseason glory. During that span, the Bills reached the AFC championship game just once in 2020, on the heels of Allen’s MVP-caliber season and Diggs’s league-best 1,535-yard campaign. Since then, Diggs has received four Pro Bowl nods and recorded at least 100 catches and 1,000 yards in each season with the Bills.
In the last few years, Rodgers and Mahomes have found varying degrees of success after losing their respective top wideouts. Allen will soon have to adjust to life without his trusty receiver, too.
