The Masters Tournament is not only my favorite golf event, it’s my favorite event in sports, period. Having been fortunate enough to cover it for several years, I always look forward to the first week in April.
Because of that, this week’s 5 Bets are all Masters wagers. Sportsbooks have plenty of prop bets to go along with bets on the outright winner. In addition to the winner, I have bets down on the top senior, a former winner to miss the cut, playoff possibilities, and a three-way winner play.

Rahm Captures Masters
The last time a favorite won the Masters it was Tiger Woods in 2005, when he was +350. It’s risky selecting the favorite, but I like Jon Rahm to win his first green jacket. He goes into this week as the +1100 pick at BetMGM.
I’m going with Rahm for a couple of reasons. The first reason is his history at Augusta National. In his last four appearances, Rahm has finished fourth, tied for ninth, tied for seventh, and tied for fifth. The second reason is the golfers’ results this season. The Spaniard finished second at the Tournament of Champions and tied for third at the Farmers Insurance Open. He also had a Top 10 at the Phoenix Open and was tied for 17th at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
Third, I believe Rahm is comfortable with this golf course, and knows what he needs to do to win. “I’ve been there, I’ve done it, and I know I can play good here,” Rahm said Tuesday. “Hopefully, I get to the back nine on Sunday a little bit closer, not needing a crazy back nine to get the win.”

Harrington Leads Seniors
Eight players 50 years of age or older are entered in this year’s Masters. The only one with a realistic chance to make the cut is Padraig Harrington, who’s +140 to be the top senior this year.
The next senior golfer is Bernhard Langer, who missed the cut last year. Fred Couples is next at +650 and then Vijay Singh at +750. Neither one of them played on the weekend.
Harrington played well in last year’s PGA Championship, finishing tied for fourth. He didn’t play Augusta last year, but I feel confident the former winner will perform better than his contemporaries.

Leishman Winner of Three-Way
Marc Leishman usually plays well at the Masters, despite how he does the rest of the year. In 2021, he finished tied for fifth. This year, Caesars Sportsbook has Leishman in a group with Si-Woo Kim and Seamus Power. Leishman and Kim are both at +160 to win, while Power is +200.
Kim concerns me a little, since he finished tied 12th last year. This is the first time for Power, and first-time golfers usually struggle.
Leishman has had an additional two Top 10s and one tied for 13th since 2013. I like him to come out on top of this group.

Struggling Scott Misses Masters Cut
Every year there is a player that looks like a sure bet to make the cut and every year he stuns bettors by not making the weekend. This year, that golfer is Adam Scott.
The Australian, who won the tournament in 2013, has not had a Top 10 since 2017, and his last three results were 54, T34, T18.
Notice a trend here? Scott has finished worse every year since 2019. This year is the year he goes home early, and at +250, I like the odds.
Wide Open Field Leads to Playoff
There hasn’t been a playoff at the Masters since Sergio Garcia outdueled Justin Rose in 2017 to win his first major championship.
With the field this wide open, we’re due for another session of extra holes. There are several players I could see at the top of the leaderboard on Sunday, and at least two of them might finish tied after 72 holes. Plus the odds are +350 at BetMGM, and I like the value in that wager.
