BetRivers, The New SugarHouse
Rush Street Interactive is phasing out its longstanding PlaySugarHouse brand in favor of the BetRivers imprint. Collectively, the brands now span a dozen U.S. states and Ontario.
Rush Street Interactive (RSI), operator of the BetRivers and PlaySugarHouse casino and sportsbook brands, is now phasing out its longstanding SugarHouse brand and soon will be BetRivers only.
As the transition completes, SugarHouse will remain live in the two states where it’s now online, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Customers will see both brand icons displayed when they log in, giving them a chance to become familiar with BetRivers before SugarHouse disappears.
The change was first announced back in 2019, when Chicago-based Rush Street Gaming announced a plan for blanket branding across its gaming assets. At the time, Philadelphia’s SugarHouse Casino—so-named because it was built on the site of an old Jack Frost sugar refinery—became Rivers Casino.
Rivers Pittsburgh, in turn, got its name from Steeltown’s three rivers: the Allegheny, the Ohio and the Monongahela. Rush Street also has Rivers properties in Schenectady, New York; Portsmouth, Virginia; and Des Plaines, Illinois.
“Having a unified brand will provide a seamless customer experience … with our bricks-and-mortar casinos, mobile and online, and even our sportsbooks, all part of the Rivers Casino family,” said Rush Street CEO Greg Carlin on the rebrand.
In addition to New Jersey and Pennsylvania, Rush Street’s online arm is available to players in 10 U.S. states—Illinois, New York, Michigan, Indiana, Virginia, Colorado, Iowa, Louisiana, West Virginia and Arizona. In April, it debuted in the new iGaming market of Ontario, Canada.
