Borgata, WSOP Upgrade Prize Pools, Promotions for Summer Tournaments

Summer is Atlantic City’s busiest season, as you’d expect, what with it being a seaside resort and all. What might not be so obvious is that summer is turning out to be a pretty busy season for New Jersey’s main online poker sites, as well—especially for tournament fans.
Both Borgata/PartyPoker and WSOP/888 Poker have announced some major upgrades to their regular tournament schedule. By upgrades, we mean better prize pool guarantees and more money for winners. That’s an upgrade we can all appreciate.
Here’s some tournament promotions for summer.
We already told you about the Borgata’s Summer Splash, where you can play your way into a September 9 freeroll by playing the Borgata’s $35,000 guaranteed Sunday tournament. There are some great prizes at stake including some land-based entries into tournaments at the Borgata casino in Atlantic City.
But don’t forget, Borgata has also stabilized its main Sunday tournament at 5 p.m. with a nice guarantee.
Borgata has also introduced a $535 buy-in Mega Tuesday 6-Max (only six hands at each table) tournament every Tuesday at 8 p.m. The tournament has a $12,000 prize pool guarantee.
Participate in six Mega Tuesday Tournaments between June 12 and August 28 and you’ll qualify for the Mega Tuesday Summer Slam promotion. Once qualified, you will receive a $600 land-based entry into the $1 Million Guaranteed Borgata Poker Open Kick-Off event this September, with the ability to add tournament dollars or a $535 online entry.
Borgata has also started a Mega Thursday tournament, a $320 buy-in No Limit Hold’em tournament that carries a deep starting stack of $12,500. The tournament has a $7,500 guarantee and is held Thursdays at 8 p.m.
At WSOP.com, the site’s main Sunday tournament has become the richest online tournament—well, probably in the U.S. WSOP.com now offers a weekly $100,000 guaranteed Sunday tournament with a $320 buy-in.
Clearly, WSOP is embracing the player sharing agreement now in place between Nevada, New Jersey and Delaware. The $100,000 Sunday Tournament starts at 6 p.m. Sundays.
WSOP.com is also offering satellites for the $100K tournament on Sundays ($75 buy-in), Saturdays ($50 buy-in) and Fridays ($30).
With these kinds of guarantees, it’s going to be a hot summer for online poker.
