Ever since Chris Moneymaker hit it big at the World Series of Poker in 2003 after earning his seat online, the dream is to turn a small online buy-in into a big live tournament win. For online poker players, there’s always a simple choice—are you a cash game player or a tournament player? Or both?

The head-to-head action of cash games is exhilarating, but there’s something special about grinding out a nice prize share in the online tournaments offered daily on online poker sites such as WSOP.com and BorgataPoker.com.

Tournament players, however, also get another choice—and that’s satellites for live play tournaments at casinos such as the Borgata in Atlantic City and the WSOP in Nevada. In February at New Jersey’s online sites, there are three big online satellite events for seats at live tournament events. Remember, online satellites offer their own prize pool, plus special prizes of seats to land-based events to the winners.

BorgataPoker and partner PartyPoker, fresh off a month of online satellites for its Winter Poker Open events, first offered online satellites for the $400 buy-in, $250,000 Guaranteed Almighty Stack events at Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City February 18 to 21. Next they are running online satellites from February 19 – 26 for their $100,000 Saturday Series event in the Borgata Poker Room March 4.

Meanwhile, WSOP.com—in New Jersey and Nevada—has already begun satellites for the 2017 World Series of Poker events to be held at the Rio Las Vegas starting May 30. Every Sunday in February you can win a $565 buy-in seat to the WSOP Colossus III event starting June 2—and some travel money and WSOP swag—or a $1,000 seat at other WSOP events. Online buy-ins start at $10.
