Rush Street Interactive Launches Online Sports Book in Colombia, Receives 6 North American iGaming Award Nominations

Chicago-based Rush Street Interactive (RSI) has launched an online sports book in Colombia, the first South American country to legalize online gambling.
“RSI is thrilled to be the first U.S.-based operator to enter the regulated Colombian online gaming market where there are over 48 million people, a significant existing land-based casino market, and a player base that likes to gamble,” Richard Schwartz, president and co-founder of Rush Street Interactive, said in a statement.
“Betting and sports are cultural passions in Colombia so we’re excited to combine those with our mission to provide players with compelling and trusted online gambling experiences.”
Similar to the PlaySugarHouse.com online casino site in New Jersey, which RSI operates, the Colombian platform offers extensive game content, convenient payment methods and unique player experiences.
Officials say insights gained from operating the online sports book in South America will position the company for future online sports betting opportunities in other locations—especially as several U.S. states are starting to legalize sports betting.
In other news, Rush Street/PlaySugarHouse.com has been nominated for six EGR North America Awards, including acquisition strategy, marketing campaign, best mobile product, casino operator, best product innovation and operator of the year. The awards celebrate excellence in online gaming in North America. Winners will be announced June 26.
