Tennis’ top stars are heading to Arthur Ashe Stadium in Queens, NY for the final Grand Slam tournament of 2022. Who will be the last man and woman standing in singles play?

There are a lot of storylines heading into the 2022 US Open. This year’s Wimbledon champion and three-time US Open champ, Novak Djokovic dropped out of the field due to his unvaccinated status, as did 2020 US Open runner-up Alexander Zverev.

Wimbledon runner-up and rising star Nick Kyrgios has openly admitted to feeling fatigue from Wimbledon and as a result, a lack of motivation to make a deep run into the US Open.

Top seeds Stefanos Tsitsipas and Taylor Fritz on the men’s side and Simona Halep on the women’s side suffered big-time upsets in opening round action. Six-time champ Serena Williams enjoyed a decisive first round win and will look to make a magical age-40 run in this year’s tournament.

Swiatek Favorite in Women’s Singles

Iga Swiatek +350

The 21-year old Swiatek currently holds the world No. 1 ranking after winning this year’s French Open, the second of her career, and making the semifinals of the Australian Open.

She is arguably the hottest player in women’s tennis at the moment and her odds as overwhelming favorite are a clear indication of that.

Swiatek has gone a little further in each of her three past appearances in the US Open, and she is hoping to jump from last year’s Round of 16 elimination all the way to the final this time around.

Medvedev Player to Beat

The 26-year old Russian is the current world No. 1 and for good reason. He has had tremendous results in Grand Slams each of the past three years and seems to just be getting started.

The US Open also happens to be the tournament where Medvedev has found the most success after finishing as runner-up in 2019, making the semifinals in 2020 and finally capturing his first (and only) Grand Slam last year.

After such strong results three years in a row, it’s no wonder Medvedev finds himself atop the odds list to defend his title this year. Like with Swiatek, these odds aren’t the best but will only get worse over time. Take them now while they are still somewhat favorable.

Rafael Nadal +350

Nadal is a four-time US Open champ and has had a nearly perfect 2022, putting him right up there with the world No. 1 at the top of the odds list.

In 2022, Nadal has won the Australian and French Opens, followed by a semifinal run at Wimbledon. The Spaniard was just two wins at Wimbledon away from entering the US Open looking for a clean sweep of all four Grand Slams in one year.

Now Nadal will have to settle for three in 2022, a feat that would enter him back into the discussion for world No. 1 over Medvedev.

He has been dominant all year and it should not come as a surprise whatsoever if the veteran adds a fifth US Open title to his resume.

Nick Kyrgios +800

The Aussie Kyrgios is finally entering the prime of his career in 2022 after winning the doubles title at his home Australian Open and becoming the runner-up in the singles at Wimbledon.

He admitted to still being exhausted and perhaps a little unmotivated heading into the US Open shortly after Wimbledon, but put up a convincing win in his first-round match while looking to still be in strong form.

A quote about being tired and missing home shouldn’t deter anyone too much from betting on Kyrgios, as the 27-year old will still be going out to win every day. He is currently one of the best and hottest tennis players in the world and as a result, will have one of the best shots to win the US Open this year.
