WSOP: Bigger than Ever This Year

In the runup to the big one, the World Series of Poker offers up nine different online bracelet events from May 28 to July 16.

The biggest tournament event in poker—the World Series of Poker—kicks off May 28 and includes the largest selection of online events ever for the series. The WSOP is offering up nine different online bracelet events over the entire WSOP, which runs May 28 to July 16.

That means each week of the WSOP, there will be at least one bracelet event. These events are like any other WSOP event, with the winner taking home the top money prize and a WSOP winner’s bracelet (we’re assuming they mail it to you).

This year’s online events are open to players on the WSOP.com poker site in both Nevada and New Jersey. However, there’s an important note to make about player-sharing in the wake of the U.S. Department of Justice’s recent ruling on online gambling. If you read our news feed, you know all about it. Otherwise, let’s just say the feds have really confused things.

So far, the WSOP has only announced definitively that player-sharing will be allowed for the June 2 and June 9 online events. We’ll have to wait for more clarification on other events.

Here are some highlights:

  • The first online event is Event 7 on the WSOP schedule, a $400 No Limit Hold’em tournament scheduled for June 2. The tournament allows for three re-buys within the first three hours and 45 minutes of play, but you have to think quick. You’ll only get 30 seconds to make the re-buy.
  • A major satellite to the event with a $33 buy-in is scheduled for June 1 at 8 p.m.
  • Also highlighted is Event 24 of the WSOP, a $600 Pot Limit Omaha online tournament scheduled for June 9. Again, the re-entry period is 30 seconds after you bust out, so be ready.
  • Another $33 satellite event for the tournament is scheduled for June 8 at 8pm.

Here’s a lineup of the remaining online tournaments:

Date           Time (Late Reg)              Event

June 16      3:30 p.m. (7:15 p.m.)     $600 No-Limit Hold’em Bounty

June 19      3:30 p.m. (6:30 p.m.)     $500 Turbo No-Limit Hold’em Deepstack

June 23      3:30 p.m. (7:30 p.m.)     $1,000 Double Stack No-Limit Hold’em

June 30      3:30 p.m. (7:30 p.m.)     $1,000 No-Limit Hold’em Championship

July 14       3:30 p.m. (7:30 p.m.)     $500 Summer Saver No-Limit Hold’em

All the bracelet events have a universal start time of 3:30 p.m. Nevada time and play to a winner. The clock is counting down to the start at WSOP.com.
